Morgen Angela Chalmiers

Morgen Angela Chalmiers is a Psychological/Medical anthropologist and med student in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. Morgen entered the Medical Scientist Training Program to pursue a dual degree (MD-PhD) in 2014. Prior to matriculation, she volunteered as a doula and plans to pursue a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology following completion of her PhD. She received her undergraduate degree in the self-designed major of Women's Global Health at Pomona College.

Her research broadly examines women’s experiences of reproductive healthcare using the tools and theoretical lens of psychological anthropology. Her current project employs a phenomenological approach to investigate disparities in maternal mental health, specifically considering the case of postpartum PTSD. She is passionate about integrating anthropological insights into clinical practice and health policy through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Her hobbies include rock climbing, backpacking, and cooking.
